Today was day number one of unschooling.
Breeze and Skye went to the grocery store to get some gardening gloves and some milk and ingrediants for tonights dinner.
Breeze remembered the prices of the items as we put them in the basket and was only a couple of dollars off the total when we got to the register. What a great way for her to add and subtract and learn about finaces and budget.
When we got home Breeze decided to have a bit of social activity, so invited her friends from over the road over for a play while Skye went out in the Garden with me and her dad and did some weeding.
She really enjoyed it and was pretty bummed that we ran out of weeds to pull in the front yard and our blades were too blunt for pruning.
However once she realised it was time to cook dinner she quickly got over her moment of despair.
I asked Breeze to send her friends home so she could help with the cooking too.
Apricot chicken.. nice and easy for them to remember, next week they can try it without any direction.
mmMMMMmm I can smell it cooking already.
Breeze opened the can of apricots using the can opener for the first time. Skye used the scissors to open the french onion soup mix, they both laid out the chicken in the oven pan and all i did was put the foil on the top.
Breeze knows how to pre heat the oven and set the timer too.
So, there we have it.. home ec class done for the day LOL I wonder if they would like to write a short play every week to show their grandparents each Friday night *rubs chin pondering*
